Resident physicians’ perceptions of COVID-19 risk

BACKGROUND: Resident physicians provide front-line care to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, but little is known about how they perceive the risk their own health or this affected by increasing role of social media in disseminating information. This study aims determine resident physicians’ perceptions personal COVID-19 during first COVID wave and compare between low–average high users. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey at University Toronto May 2020 among internal medicine, emergency critical care, anaesthesia. Participants were considered users if above median for daily use low-average below median. The primary outcome was perceived hospitalization with within 6 months. RESULTS: A total 98 reported 1–2 hours on media, 55.7% endorsed as very most common source information COVID-19. overall 10% (inter-quartile ratio [IQR] 5–25)—7.5% 17.5% ( p = 0.10).
